10 days before the Grammy Awards the Recording Academy based in Santa Monica, California has just fired CEO Deborah Dugan, the first female boss of the Recording Academy which oversees the Awards after an allegation of conduct from the organization.

Dugan defended herself against these allegations claiming that she was sexually harassed against men in the organization including Joel Katz, the Academy’s general counsel making inappropriate remarks against her while being CEO.

We will utilize all lawful means necessary to ensure that those responsible are held accountable for their actions,” Douglas H. Wigdor and and Michael J. Willemin, Dugan’s lawyers said in a statement to the LA Times.

Deborah Dugan filed a discrimination complaint with the Equal Employment Opportunity Comission also known as EEOC against the Recording Academy for harrasment and firing her from Chief Executive Officer highlighting the lack of equality and diversity in the organization.

“Ms. Dugan complained about and attempted to remedy the lack of diversity, sexual harassment and other improprieties at the Academy (which were gender-based), including egregious conflicts of interest, improper self-dealing by board members,” Wigdor said in a statement to National Public Radio.

 The Academy released with a statement against Dugan filing of the  discrimination lawsuit towards the Academy for sexism and diversity to Deborah Dugan in her public statemen.

 “In light of concerns raised to the Recording Academy board of trustees, including a formal allegation of misconduct and the Board has placed Recording Academy President and CEO Deborah Dugan on administrative leave, effective immediately,” The Recording Academy said in a statement to National Public Radio.

Dugan’s legal team of lawyers said that the Recording Academy trying to destroy Dugan’s career as a form of revenge towards for her speaking out against the Academy.This blatant form of retaliation in corporate America is all too common, even post #MeToo, and we will utilize all lawful means necessary to ensure that those responsible are held accountable for their actions,” Widgor said in a Twitter statement to the public.
