230 workers have taken a stand against Google and started Alphabet workers, a minority union against the multinational technology company, with the help from Communications Workers of America (CWA).

Alphabet Workers Union is a group of full-time employees, temporary employees, vendors and contractors working together against corrupt companies for better treatment and equality. 

 Representative Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez and Senator Bernie Sanders have given their support to Google employees fighting against injustice treatment and pay equality.

  “Google workers are taking immediate advantage of the power of a union,” Collective Active Union writer Clarissa Redwine said. 

Since the beginning of 2017, there has been a high number of activists and protests from Google workers. An example being the walkouts against the company’s decision of working with the Pentagon for drone strikes and censorship search engine for China.

“Dr. Gebru has faced defensiveness, racism, gaslighting, research censorship, and now retaliatory firing. In an email to Dr. Gebru’s team on the evening of December 2, 2020, Google executives claimed that she had chosen to resign. This is false,” Twitter user @GoogleWalkout posted.. 

Google has been in the news for controversy over the years with the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) filing a compliment against them. The protestors have been going face-to-face with the tech company for on-going problems for years. 

“Google’s hiring of Information Resources is an unambiguous declaration that management will no longer tolerate worker organizing,” Google worker Laurence Berlad said. 

At Cypress Lakes High School, senior Huda Telfah explains why she feels the Google workers have every right to stand up for themselves against the company.er years of treatment and unequal rights to the employees.

¨I believe that it will have more equality,” said Telfah.¨ I think Google should have equal pay because big companies like Google are equal to people of race or gender.”

Telfah goes on to share that the workers have to create their own union against the tech company to rebel for their equal rights and unfair treatment of quality working at Google for years. 

¨They should rebel against big companies because of how they treat their employees and let them have their own opinion without little no consequences,” said Telfah. 

   A week later Alphabet Workers Union created by workers from Google has surpassed over 700 members from the 230 workers who started the union for equal rights and treatment against big companies.
