Is Coffee Bad For You?

Coffee… It is a favorite drink of many Americans. It is so loved that people don’t care about any of the negatives. If there are any, will learning these pros and cons change your mind about coffee?
Millions of people drink coffee every day. Some go to Starbucks for their fix, some have a coffee machine in their house. It is no secret that coffee has caffeine in it but what else is there? Is having coffee every day healthy? People say they do not care. They drink their hot beverage, have the burning liquid flow down their esophagus, then let it set in their stomach and all they are thinking is: “Finally, I got my cup of joe.” Nothing else.
The popular drink doesn’t come from anywhere. Coffee is made from roasted or ground coffee beans along with hot water. There are four different types of coffee beans: Arabica, Robusta, Liberica, and Excelsa. Starbucks uses Arabica beans so there is a good chance that everyone who gets their coffee from there has only tasted one kind of coffee when
there are others available.
Here are some reasons why coffee is beneficial to you:

● There is a chance that drinking coffee can lower your risk of developing type II diabetes.
● It can help your brain by protecting you from Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease. These are neurodegenerative disorders. While it can’t protect you from all of them it can protect you from some.
● It can help your heart. Drinking coffee multiple times a day has been shown to decrease risks of heart failure, strokes, and more.
● It can enhance athletic performance. Drinking coffee can give you more energy, which people like to drink for.

Now here are some reasons that coffee is bad for you:

● Studies have shown that drinking too much coffee can give you anxiety since it increases alertness and keeps you energized. This is also the reason why it inhibits your sleep. This does not just come from coffee, however. Anything with caffeine could have this effect on your body.
● Just like other substances that people abuse, coffee is addictive. There are people that experience withdrawal whenever they miss out on their morning drink.
● It can disrupt your stomach causing digestive issues. Issues like: IBS, acid reflux, indigestion, and more.
● It can increase your heart rate.

There are pros and cons to everything. Having too much of something can be bad for you after all. Most likely, you are a coffee drinker or someone close to you is a coffee drinker.
Even if the negative side effects were worse the chances are those regular coffee drinkers won’t care because they have had it for so long that they feel like they need it. Like they cannot live without it. Whether it is hot, cold, decaf, regular, people will never stop selling it, never stop buying it, and never stop drinking it. It has become that prevalent in modern society. We cannot ever escape it.
